The Gege Vibes Team met Govana in London on the eve of his last UK Tour, which happened a few weeks ago, featuring new artist Skeng. The Jamaican entertainer told us about his learning process through the artistic transition from Deablo to Govana. He also underlined how much he likes to stay in his own lane, minding his own business without following the crowds, the hype or the trends.
During our interview, Govi suggested to his fans to be just the best version of yourself being in a confident and positive attitude because the Universe is listening to our wishes, so dreams could be possible if we totally believe in it. According to him, we can get everything through the law of attraction.
We also discussed the style and the topics in his music: from the storytelling to the freestyle, from the inspirational messages to the street writing and dancing tunes for the ladies. Govana shows the audience he could be a versatile singer, talking about good and bad things in his lyrics at the same time, just like it is reality.
Govana didn’t hide his main inspirations, musically speaking, mentioning elders like Sizzla Kalonji, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killah, Aidonia, Agent Sasco, Beenie Man and more. Govana concluded the interview by mentioning the attachment he has for his community in Jamaica: Spanish Town. His place of origin is beautiful, but it’s also an area that is poor and full of crimes. That’s why he did several charitable projects at his birthplace alongside other popular reggae stars like Chronixx, Koffee and many more.
The Artist said that he truly wants for the youths in his community to fulfill their potentials and to have a better future, away from the World of Criminality. We ended up our chat talking about his last single “I am” produced by Dunwell with a very motivational and uplifting meaning for young people.
